Syrah

The Syrah is often linked to the northern part of the Côte du Rhône. They will be used to produce a portion of the great wines because the grape there is rather rare. Elsewhere in the world, such as Argentina, South Africa, Chile, New Zealand and California, the Syrah is planted more easily. In Australia they speak of Shiraz.

In terms of reputation the Syrah is well-known. A deep colour, full flavour, alcohol and a stylish, robust structure are its trademarks. Many tannins and a low acidity make Syrah wines suitable for ageing.

Fruit flavours prevail in the Syrah, with red and black currants, raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. Around this, diving floral notes and references to herbs, truffle, pepper and licorice. With ageing, the wine becomes more complex. It develops notes such as musk and leather. The truffle, leather, pepper and licorice are more prominent in the foreground.
